2022 Taiwan Fellowship Programme

The 2022 Taiwan Fellowship programme has opened for online applications. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2021.
The Taiwan Fellowship was established by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) of the Republic of China (Taiwan). Its purpose is to offer opportunities for conducting advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan for foreign experts and scholars, who are interested in researching Taiwan (including Taiwan’s New Southbound Policy, as well as its links with the Asia-Pacific and the world), Cross-Strait relations, Asia-Pacific regional security, global cyber security and combating fake news, gender equality, sinology, as well as defence and strategy.
The fellowship includes a stipend paid at the beginning of every month. The awarded professors, associate professors, research fellows and associate research fellows are entitled to a NT$ 60,000 monthly stipend while the awarded assistant professors, assistant research fellows and doctoral candidates are entitled to a monthly stipend of NT$50,000 (40 NTD = 1GBP) . Recipients are also entitled to one round-trip economy class ticket for the most direct available air route to Taiwan (the travel subsidy will be decided by MOFA in accordance with the relevant guidelines). Accident insurance (plus medical insurance for accidental injuries) of up to NT$ 1 million is also provided.
The recipients of the fellowship will begin their research in Taiwan in January 2022. The duration of the programme ranges from 3 to 12 months and must take place within 2022.
The fellowship cannot be extended into 2023 (i.e. to obtain a full 12 months the recipient must begin the fellowship in January 2022 and end by December 2022).
